Enjoy Your Ride on Chevrolet Enjoy

It is really a tough job being an MPV in the Indian market. You have to deliver on so many fronts. You will have to have an adequate performance, and yet be fuel efficient. The vehicle needs to be rugged, yet comfortable, needs to have space for the passengers and luggage without being too big, and at the end of the day it should not feel like a van and feel difficult to drive. And of course it has to look good.

Does the MPV from Chevrolet have this all? Let’s find out.

In terms of styling, the Enjoy is a bit of a mix. Though it has a charming urban face, it does lack the typical Chevy split grille. However, the fused head light and grille section has been neatly designed. The kinked headlights and rising waist line adds to some flair to the otherwise flat side profile. The rear is dominated by large vertical tail lamps. There is a massive tail gate that swings open to provide access to a big boot. Thanks to its monocoque chassis, there is a low and flat floor that gives free access to the boot. While the third row can be removed within its place the boot space is good only for a few soft bags. Chevrolet Enjoy Price tag of Rs 5.91 to 8.45 lakh.

The cabin is light and airy with a good visibility. The plastics feel a bit tough and there is nothing special about them. The central console design feels quite old school. On the ergonomics front, the driver pedal box looks a bit as an afterthought. The front seats have adequate support, with seat height adjustable for the driver seat. The steering rake adjustment is a bit tight.

The cabin storage cubby holes are in short supply. Equipment levels are a bit disappointing too. There is no Bluetooth, climate control and the music system is a simple 1-Din unit. The middle and back row comes with a lot of head space and leg space; the big windows adding to the feel. The sliding second row captain seats in the top variants look good. There are exclusive air vents for the second and third row passengers. The third row lacks under thigh support.

The Enjoy comes in both petrol and diesel engines. The engines are mounted longitudinally in the engine bay, i.e., from north to south instead of side to side. The 1.4-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine delivers a power of 104 bhp along with a maximum torque of 131 Nm. The 1.3-liter multi-jet diesel can generate a power of 77 bhp against a peak torque of 188 Nm. The power is transferred to its rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
